Family First Signatory To International Marriage Declaration

cape-town-declarationMedia Release 12 Dec 2016
A global movement to preserve and reclaim the definition of marriage has been just launched in Cape Town, South Africa, and Family First NZ who were present at the launch of the Declaration are signatories to the declaration already signed by hundreds of religious, political, social, and civic leaders from all the continents.

“Family First NZ is honoured to be part of a global movement which is protecting, and in some countries, claiming back, the truth about what marriage is,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of NZ who was present in Cape Town for the launch.

The Declaration says the family is the first and primordial community and that marriage is the conjugal bond of man and woman. This definition is not a matter of preference or temperament or taste but the heart of any just social order. The text states that a thriving culture will discouraging pornography, adultery and divorce; and firmly resist every push to redefine marriage to include group bonds, same-sex, sexually open or temporary ones.

The document also declares that the nature of marriage as between one man and one woman is a truth that no government can change.

Signatories pledge to “not falter or flag until the truth about marriage is embraced in our laws and honoured in our lands”.

Members of the public are invited to sign the Cape Town Declaration online.
