It’s a more relaxing start to the year for grandparent caregivers, with a much needed boost in Government funding.
It’s the first time they’ve been able to access Government support, including a ‘start-of-year’ payment of up to $400.
Geoff Lawson, CEO of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust says it’ll help to ease the back-to-school stress.
“Getting the kids to school is a costly business, the uniforms can cost hundreds of dollars, obviously there is a school donation to make and [there’s] stationary [too],” says Mr Lawson.
More than $850,000 worth of payments have already been made.
