Claims today that schoolgirls as young as 14 in South Auckland are being targeted by pimps offering them money to satisfy clients who like young girls.
New Zealand First’s social policy spokeswoman Asenati Lole-Taylor says some of the girls have been hit on while they’re walking to school and they’ve complained to her party.
Ms Lole-Taylor says the Government doesn’t want to legislate against street prostitution which she says is failing the community, council and the police.
She says South Auckland and Christchurch are the worst hit areas with one councillor in the southern city paying for “no street walker” signs himself for Manchester Street.
