Being daddy’s girl is more that just a special and treasured bond – it could mean girls are less likely to display risky sexual behaviour later in life.
According to a new study conducted by researchers from Texan Christian University, daughters who lack a father figure are more likely to be sexually promiscuous.
The researchers quizzed 64 female students about their father-daughter bond and asked them to answer questions on sex and condom frequency.
Girls who had an unstable or non-existant relationship with their fathers were more likely to lose their virginity at an earlier age and display risky sexual behavoiurs.
Those whose fathers were absent during their childhood also showed more sexually permissive attitudes on the questionnaire. For instance they were more likely to agree that ‘sex without love is OK’.
