Unprecedented Demand for Family Voter’s Guide

Media Release 1 Nov 2011
Family First NZ has had unprecedented demand for their Value Your Vote resource for this month’s election.

“We’ve already printed 100,000 copies of the 8-page pamphlet to meet demand, and there have been almost 20,000 views on the accompanying website www.valueyourvote.org.nz,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.

“The voting record shows how MP’s have voted over the past three terms on controversial issues such as parental notification, the anti-smacking law, the decriminalisation of prostitution, civil unions and the definition of marriage, euthanasia, and raising the drinking age.”

“But an additional feature of the popular website from the 2008 version is the questionnaire which finds out the candidates’ views at this election on issues ranging from marriage, abortion and income splitting to loan sharks, Easter trading laws, same-sex adoption, and broadcasting standards.”

“The media and politicians are trying to argue that the economy, asset sales and welfare are the only burning issues this election, but the demand for our voting resource shows that many families are also focusing on the many other important issues affecting the welfare of families,” says Mr McCoskrie.

“We are pleased to offer this resource to assist families in making an informed choice at the polling booth this November.”
