In a disturbing trend, countries are starting to jail parents for smacking. They started softly-softly like NZ, but as time progresses, they come under pressure from the UN to strictly enforce the ideologically-flawed UNCROC (UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child) – otherwise known as ‘a load of croc”. (Labelled as such because the Convention was never about criminalising parents who raise great kids and may use smacking as a parenting technique.) In Sweden, a couple was jailed for nine months for using smacking. In Canada, the parents of a 14-year-old girl were sentenced each to 10 days in jail plus a $500 fine for using a belt to spank their daughter.
