Despair from a family advocate with the news of another child’s death. A man has been arrested following the suspicious death of a 5-year-old girl found dead in her bed overnight in Napier. This comes, as news emerges the parents of a 9-year-old Waitakere girl, accused of her prolonged torture – have been bailed for Christmas. Family First’s Bob McCroskie says people in New Zealand are shocked by what’s happening. He says they’re shocked and revolted by the facts of the case and equally as revolted that they can go and enjoy Christmas day despite the severity of the charges. Social Development Minister Paula Bennett has ordered an urgent report into the case. A spokeswoman for Ms Bennett confirmed the minister wants urgent information about how the abuse went unchecked for so long. It’s not known how long the report will take, as they say it needs to be thorough.
