Business neighbours unhappy at sex parlour

The Southland Times 29 November 2008

Neighbours of an Invercargill brothel offering bondage and discipline in a dungeon said it was unfit for their area, with at least one business deciding to move out. The Elite Ladies Massage Parlour opened for business in Esk St West in September, beside the heritage-listed Victoria Railway Hotel. Business directory website Finda says Elite Ladies is Invercargill’s newest upmarket massage parlour and offers “fantasy packages”, including women dressed as schoolgirls and “a little b&d in the dungeon”.

Graeme Mitchell, the property manager of the Menzies Building opposite Elite Ladies, said a business tenant had indicated he would vacate because of the brothel across the street. Some of the Menzies Building tenants were upset they had not been consulted about the brothel opening, he said. They believed it was unsuitable operating opposite the Menzies Building because it housed education groups working with young people.
