Cameron: treat bad fathers like drink-drivers

Feckless fathers who avoid responsibility for their children should be made to feel as socially unacceptable as drink-drivers, according to David Cameron. David Cameron said there needs to be a ‘culture change’As Tony Blair today hosts a Downing Street summit on gun crime, the Conservative leader warned that family breakdown, with growing numbers of children in “fatherless” families, was a root cause of youth crime. Mr Cameron welcomed a report today by the party’s social justice policy group, headed by the former leader Iain Duncan Smith, which highlights the success of radical programmes in the United States to encourage and support healthy marriages.
