Wax Works for bullied girls

Sydney Morning Herald 17 Sep 06
Schoolyard taunts about hairy legs, “mono brows” and acne are leading girls as young as eight to beauty salons wanting facials and bikini waxes. The demand is so great that a Sydney beautician has developed a new menu specially catering for pre-teen and teenage girls.Jo Kheir said the service was in response to the growing number of concerned mothers bringing in daughters who were being teased at school about their appearance. “Kids as young as eight or nine are developing early and becoming really conscious of themselves, especially the ones from ethnic backgrounds,” she said.
