Key and Goff on Abortion
With the announcement by Labour MP Steve Chadwick to introduce a bill to decriminalise abortion, where do our current political leaders stand on this issue. You can view brief comments made by Prime Minister John Key in 2008 and Phil Goff in 2009, both at our Forum on the Family. Phil Goff appears to contradict his concern for the unborn child.

Are mothers valued?
Kiwi mums feel they're not measuring up
Sunday Star Times 11/04/2010
Forget the idea of the yummy mummy: 21st-century mothers are feeling overwhelmed, under-supported, unsexy and terrified of making the wrong choices, according to preliminary findings from a study into the psyche of Kiwi mums. And not only that – the study suggests that rates of post-natal depression among mothers is much higher than the one-in-five figure currently accepted. ...The online study, created by two Australian women, attracted a massive response from mothers in New Zealand and Australia. Between last May and December 4708 women (half from each country) answered 131 questions, including ones asking if they were doing a good job as a mum and as a partner, and whether they had the right support.

Kapiti Coast Includes Bylaw Banning Nudity
Family First NZ is congratulating the Kapiti Coast District Council for listening to the concerns of families and including a specific bylaw outlawing public nudity on the coastline. Councilor Diane Ammundsen has confirmed to Family First that the Beach Bylaw now contains a clause “No person shall remain upon any part of the beach in deliberate view of others in such a state of undress as to cause offence.”

“This is a victory for families, for decency, and for democracy,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ. “The councilors have listened and understood the concerns of the overwhelming majority of submitters to the proposed bylaw, have ignored the advice of officials to exclude such a provision, and have acted in the best interests of children and families.”

The Prime Minister says that she doesn't want smacking banned

That it "would defy human nature"

We agree - So why is she voting for legislation that will make a light smack a crime which must be investigated by Police and referred to CYF???? Email her pm@ministers.govt.nz and tell her what you think

John Key should allow Conscience Vote on Flawed Smacking Bill

John Key argued that National would allow a conscience vote on the "anti-smacking" bill - but he's changed his mind and all National MP's (like Labour MP's) have to vote for a flawed bill - a bill that doesn't deliver what he promised - that parents wouldn't be criminalised for light smacking

LISTEN

Please email him
john.key@parliament.govt.nz and ask that he allow a conscience vote.
