What you can do

You will be surprised at how much you can do by getting informed and following a few simple steps. Just an hour or two a week can make a big impact. The sky is the limit as to what you can achieve by being organised and passionately pursuing an issue.

  1. To start, choose an issue that you care about and want to change
  2. Find out more about the issue – talk to people, research, get informed.
  3. Decide what you want to change and write it down in a few sentences – this is your vision.
  4. Join any organised groups that share your vision, or start one simply by getting a few friends together to talk about it.
  5. Begin by taking small steps towards the goal – this can be as simple as letters to MP’s and editors, starting a petition, conducting a survey, or visiting your MP or local councillor.

Often people have good ideas but just don’t act on them. It is best to start small, become well informed about how much change you can effect. Once you begin you will gain more ideas, especially if you get other friends and neighbours interested and active.
